The Trash Dump In Cebu

On our recent trip to Cebu we took the opportunity to visit a mission in one of the garbage dumps.  Families live in the garbage dumps and go through the trash looking for recyclable items as their only means of income.  The level of poverty we saw is unimaginable.

We were able to serve through The International Gospel Center.
We had the privilege of visiting IGC, which sits on the edge of the dump and is about the only building with real walls that we saw in the area.  We were able to  hang out with the children who are benefiting from this organization. IGC buses in children from several dump areas around cebu,
on our visit there were over 200 children brought in.

Hoyer was able to participate in the church service and then help pass out treats to the children.  It was a remarkable day and we all left feeling not only blessed and lucky for ALL we have, but also amazed at how faithful the children and volunteers are. No matter their circumstance, they remain faithful and hopeful.  It was an eye-opener for us on many levels.

There is more we can do to help. We can pray for the children, for their families and we can fulfill some of the needs of great organizations that are on the ground, doing good work.
We can attest for this organization.  To learn more, click here.

Hoyer was a little nervous, but go up on stage!

Lots of sweets and treats for the kids!

It's a relay

My life is like one big relay race all day long. Tagging kids in  and out all day long!
I  love it.
Spending quality time with each child individually can be a challenge, but it is something I strive for.

Tag the Twins in at night, Tag Hoyer in the morning, then he is off to school, tag Charlie in before he naps, Tag the twins while Charlie naps,  tag Hoyer in after school and so on and so on.

Here are some pictures of time spent with just me and one boy at a time.
These are the moments I will treasure always and love so so much.

Hoyer and me on a hike to the waterfall Sunday morning.
(He did awesome!)

Charlie and me enjoying breakfast in the plaza together.
(He eats all the raisins from the bread first!)

Taking Garrett for a stroll.
( He weighs over 14 lbs now!)

Snuggle time with Graham.
(Still my sweet baby!)

Chinese Dinos

Hoyer took a field trip to the Science Museum to check out some cool Dinos that have recently (2008) been discovered in China. It was a fun day!
