Tung Chung Day Out

Our adventure begin with a trip to an old fort.

The sign said 15 min walk. We took a taxi. He got lost. We stopped to ask 2 other taxi drivers for directions. We made it. So, in the end, we were glad we took a taxi.

The fort is unknown by most locals. It's surrounded by trash and low-income houses. The once strategical view is now obstructed by hideous high rises. But, a treasure none the less.

Cannons point out to defend the fort. Once used as a lookout for for salt smugglers in the 1840s and later occupied by the Japanese, it now stands as a historical landmark, but doesn't get the respect it deserves.

The 900 year old wall surrounds the fort. We took a walk around the perimeter and imagined what it used to be like.

We left the fort and headed back toward the city center. We came across a traditional Chinese puppet show. We stayed until the locals seated behind us scared Hoyer into a shy state begging to go home.

Diaper Dinner.

My sweet Hong Kong friends put together a "Diaper Dinner" for Kyle and me Saturday night. Everyone met up for dinner and brought along a pack of diapers for baby Charlie!
It was a fun night and what a great way to celebrate with men and women!

Get a grip.

I'm so pleased to watch Hoyer grab his crayon and adjust it in his own to the correct grip. He is beginning to enjoy drawing and coloring more these days. The Montessori education is paying
off!

Shrove Tuesday, Pancake Day, Mardi Gras, Tuesday-anyway you look at it-it's the day before lent and Ash Wesnesday. We were busy getting in all sorts of treats today before we start our Lenten restrictions...
